Some bleeding after sexual intercourse is not uncommon and may be caused by
nothing more than the friction of the condom and her vaginal tissues. In this
case, using more lubricant and making sure she is ready for intercourse (e.g.,
have some foreplay first!) will help.
In general, if the bleeding was minimal and only happened after one episode of
intercourse, it is probably normal. If she continually “spot” or experience
small amounts of bleeding after intercourse, or if it continues for more than 48
hours and you are sure it isn’t her period, she should make an appointment with
a health care provider.
In addition, if the bleeding is heavier (e.g., soaking more than 8 pads or
tampons in 24 hours) and she is sure, she doesn't have her period, she should
see her
health care provider today. |
